Music in the Wild
Sold out
In The WildBrand new for this year, Music In The Wild taps into the origins of how music was experienced. In small groups, completely unplugged, deeply embedded in nature and far away from civilisation. These acoustic experiences can be the most magical, connected moments between audience and performer, surrounded by trees and birdsong, and there can be no greater setting than the majestic Wychwood Forest. Three renowned acts will perform two completely unplugged intimate shows in a forest clearing on Friday afternoon. The incredible and hotly-tipped Cosmo Pyke, the captivating and magnetic Estilo String Quartet and the charismatic Olly Barton of Die Twice fame. These are completely free but require advance booking. Bring a jumper or a blanket to sit on. Sit back, tune in and allow these talented musicians to cast their spells in this magical, intimate setting.
Olly Bayton
Olly Bayton, charismatic frontman of up-and-coming alt-rock band Die Twice, takes it back to basics with a set that will shine a light on his lyrical and vocal mastery. Expect original songs drawing on a range of influences from jazz, folk, bossa nova and world music, with soothing vocals, melodic guitar and percussion.
Estilo String Quartet
Not your traditional classical string quartet, Estilo play everything from Arvo Pärt to Muse and is renowned for its inspired reinterpretations of modern tracks. Based in London, Estilo love to collaborate and have recorded and performed with artists such as The Hoosiers, Bear’s Den, Basia Bulat, Christof Van Der Ven and Jacob Alon. Estilo String Quartet are Robert Simmons and Paul Barrett (violins) George White (viola) Verity Simmons (cello).
For this special performance, Estilo will help you rewild through sound - presenting a magical mix of music from Arvo Pärt, Piazzolla, weird pop mash-ups, Nordic folk music and some enchanting surprises.
Cosmo Pyke
A singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and multi-disciplinary artist, Cosmo Pyke spins eloquent but relatable tales of Gen Z life, intertwined with references from art, literature and musical history. Skilfully combining sounds from indie, jazz, and blues mixed with elements of hip hop, Cosmo is an old soul with lyrical dexterity that smacks of a vocabulary well beyond his years, with captivating wordplay that draws you into his stories layered with irresistible grooves and rhythms.
